A Good Game But Not Super » Brats & Beer

Congratulations to the Steelers and their fans for winning Super Bowl XL. I was pleasantly surprised it turned into a good game and not a total blowout. Pittsburgh played a classic Steelers game: let the defense keep the team in the game, hang around a while, then break a couple big plays to win the game. Seattle, though, has to be pretty disappointed in the way they played. I thought they looked confused and all out of whack for most of the night. Still, it wasn’t a game filled with drama and suspense, but maybe that was too much to hope for.

A lot of people are bitching about the officiating today, but I seriously can’t say it was much worse than any other game this season. Officiating games has been going downhill steadily for years and will continue to get worse as long as the refs have instant replay there as a crutch. Yeah, there were some bad calls, but Seahawks fans have to know their team played poorly and choked on the opportunities they had to win.

Even the commercials were for the most part disappointing. The only one that really got a big laugh was the Budweiser “Magic Fridge” spot. The rest were either dumb or dumber. And what was up with the “Brown and Bubbly” Diet Pepsi spots? I hope they recognize today that might have been a bad decision and kill that campaign before it goes much further.
