Packers win! 8-1! The Vikings suck!
Wow, what a performance at Lambeau Field today. For the first time this season Green Bay got a convincing win that didn’t require a fourth quarter comeback or the rubbing of any Buddha bellies to ensure victory. The Packers manhandled the Mulberry Mulligans in a 34-0 victory, handing Minnesota their worse loss in forever, and for the first time since 1996 enjoy an 8-1 record. Totally sweet.
Now it doesn’t mean that the Packers are destined for championship greatness, but completely shutting down the Vikings offense like that had better quite the critics. Let’s no longer hear any questions about “is this team for real?” They are, so get used to it.
Where to start with accolades for this one? Ryan Grant rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown, are you kidding me? Against a defense that had not allowed a 100-yard rusher yet this season. Whatever Mike McCarthy said in those meetings with the offensive line this past week sure did work. Brett Favre had another excellent day throwing for 351 yards and three scores, spreading it out to 10 different receivers. Double D and Greg Jennings each caught four passes for 63 yards; Ruvell Martin had four receptions as well, two for touchdowns.
But the game ball has to go to the defense, answering the bell and totally shutting down Purple Judas; with just 45 yards on 11 carries, Adrian Peterson was made a non-factor just a week after his record-setting performance. A.J. Hawk came up with some big plays and had seven tackles on the day; Aaron Rouse and Atari Bigby also heard the call and played like they needed to. It was a team effort by the defense, they all deserve to revel in this one.
Go Pack, go!
