Packers Give Ragnar The Broom » Brats & Beer

I feel like I just got a lump of Coal Candy in my stocking for Christmas. Yeah, the win over the Vikings was sweet, but it sure was nasty to look at. (Actually, I didn’t see it at all because of the unholy and unjust blackout of the game caused by the NFL Network and the failure of certain Satanic cable systems to carry it.)

So, what has happened to this Green & Gold offense the past two weeks? They had 319 yards against Minnesota but just three field goals to show for it. Last week they at least scored a couple touchdowns. The two INTs by Brett Favre didn’t help the issue, but by far the weakest link on the team last night was Bubba Franks, who fumbled on the goal line and got flagged for holding on a 30-yard completion to Ahman Green. Anyone else hoping Ted Thompson will use a draft pick next year on a quality tight end?

But thank Odin for that defense. What a performance, eh? Any time you can hold any team to under 105 yards of offense you’re doing something right, rookie QB or not. And thank you Dave Rayner for booting that 44-yard field goal for the win. (Take that Longwell, you big fat traitor.)

Whatever comes of Green Bay’s chances at making the playoffs, at least they swept the hated purple horde from the skywalk city this year, a team that many had pegged as a sure contender for the post-season. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ragnar just hung up his sword and shield and went back to peasant farming.
