Will He Stay Or Will He Go? » Brats & Beer

News flash: Brett Favre has conflicted feelings about coming back to play another season. By now I’m sure you’ve seen or read about the three-time MVP’s interview with ESPN, full of “I still love the game but I don’t know if I want to play” and “I want to do what’s best for the team” and all that. Yes, we’ve heard it before. I can’t say that I understand the point of this annual tango, though I’ve never been a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback contemplating my future after 15 years in the league, but more than that I don’t get the obsession with the non-news of his non-answers. In the couple days since the interview, a lot of people have expressed their disappointment in Favre for not coming out and saying “yes or no” to playing another season, but to me that’s to be expected at this point. He’s been saying this stuff for the past few seasons. I’m angered more by ESPN for hauling the poor guy in front of some cameras and grilling him on something he clearly needs more time to think about, and then filling hours of air time with “expert” analysis from the likes of Sean Salisbury and Mark Schlereth. Give me a break. Give Favre a break. Will he be back in a Green Bay uniform? Just sit tight and we’ll all find out in a month.
