Cheers to the UW Badgers basketball team for an impressive win over Illinois to add the Big Ten tournament championship to their awards and honors this season. Jeers to the NCAA selection committee for seeding Wisconsin third in the Midwest.

Actually I’m not all that surprised at the bracket selection, but seriously you’d think winning the regular season and the conference tourney would translate into a better situation. In order for the Badgers to make it out of the first weekend, they’ll have to beat a good USC team with OJ Mayo or Micheal “Beastly” and his K-State crew, leading to a matchup with probably Georgetown and eventually Kansas in the regionals. Wow, not a gimme in that bunch.

UW has been playing so well, though, I think they’ll force their way into the Sweet Sixteen, and luckily then they’ll be in Detroit — not too far from home. I would expect a big cheering section for Bucky to help get them possibly into the Final Four.
