Thompson Scratches Bates From Coaching Derby » Brats & Beer

Breaking news from the Press-Gazette says Jim Bates is no longer a candidate for the head coaching position in Green Bay. The paper reports that the Packers general manager informed Bates of his decision this evening, which might mean that we’ll see white smoke issuing forth from the chimney at 1265 Lombardi Ave. in the next few days. (Imagery stolen from today’s NoN post.) Poor Bates, though. He’s quoted as saying, �It�s really hard. I felt good about my chances. It�s a blow . . . I really felt like it was going to happen here.”
