I just wanted to send out a big thank you to everyone involved in the Brett Favre – Ted Thompson affair for making my life as a Green Bay Packer fan so much better. We’ll probably never know the “truth” about what went down; who called who and what was said has been lost to the giant PR machine that is the modern professional football franchise. But the perception is out there and ESPN and all the other sports entertainment media outlets are going to make sure it is out there for a good long time. So thanks.

Thanks for making it possible for me to hear the “knuckleheads” on PTI pose the question, “Which team has the worse QB situation: Green Bay or Atlanta?” That shouldn’t even be a choice in anyone’s mind, yet the perception that Brett Favre is fed up with playing for the Packers is enough to put the Green & Gold in the same camp as a team that might have to deal with its franchise quarterback being suspended for involvement in dog fighting.

Thanks for giving every two-bit “journalist” out there some fodder to bring up during each mini-camp conducted this summer, during training camp, and probably well into the season. I’m sure this whole issue will still be kicking through Week 5 of the season when Green Bay plays Chicago on Sunday Night Football, so we’ll get the pleasure of hearing Bob Costas and Al Michaels yammer on endlessly about it.

About the only good thing that has come out of this whole mess is that it brought Mr. Lalasz of “Nietzsche or Nitschke?” out from where he’s been hiding himself to pen a brilliant post on the meaning of Favre’s obsession with Randy Moss and the meaning of it all. For that, in seriousness, I do thank you.
