Between bouts of merry making and present opening, I came across a story about former UW quarterback John Stocco who is going to play football in Italy next year. “Italy?” I sez.
Apparently they have a thriving American football league over there called the Lega Nazionale Football Americano Italiano with eight teams in the top division. Stocco, who tried out for both the Packers and the Giants this past year, got signed recently by the Milan Rhinos and according to the AP story should be one of the top talents in the league when the season starts in March.
It seems a little weird to have to go to Europe to play football, but if someone wanted to pay me to live in Italy and do the thing I love, I’d jump at it in a heartbeat. Congrats and good luck to you, John Stocco.
