Steelers Survive As Peyton Pouts » Brats & Beer

While Pittsburgh and Steelers Nation celebrate, the media and the NFL are hanging their heads along with Peyton Manning. Everything they had worked for all season long, to finally get Manning and the Colts into the Super Bowl, has come up short in the end.
Or maybe I should say it all came up wide to the right. Way wide.
Now don’t tell me you are so naive as to believe that the league and the networks have been standing idly on the sidelines. It has practically been a foregone conclusion since the beginning of the season that this would be Peyton’s year. And during the game, all the announcers talked about was how dramatic it would be for the Colts to make a comeback and win. What about the drama of the Steelers becoming the only sixth seed to advance to the AFC Championship?
But now that Bill Cower and his Pittsburgh charges have flipped the big bird at those plans, the TV networks will have to come up with all new graphics and feature stories for a Broncos-Steelers matchup next week. If I had the smarts to install an audio file for this blog, I would post a clip of Nelson from The Simpsons issuing his trademark, “Ha ha.”
