Moss Drops The Bomb On The Packers » Brats & Beer

All season long he’s kept his nose clean, kept his yap shut, and played lights-out football, but given the biggest stage in the world at the Super Bowl Randy Moss decided to unload on the Green Bay Packers. Asked by Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel about his talks with the Packers last spring, the Patriots star wide receiver claimed he was disrespected by Ted Thompson and eventually decided he didn’t want to sign with Green Bay.

Now I don’t know how much of his story I’m buying. The whole thing about being told Donald Driver is numero uno and “don’t come in there trying to step on his toes” sounds a little suspect. I can imagine it was suggested his contract might include some language about behavior on and off the field, but given his track record he should have seen that coming.

One thing is for sure, though, something set him off. Maybe he really did want to play for the Packers with Brett Favre and has been harboring some resentment. Maybe he saw an opportunity to bad-mouth an old opponent from the bully pulpit of media day. Maybe it’s a way to deflect attention from his current legal troubles in Florida.

I’m guessing we’ll never know the whole story.
