Bill Leinenkugel, who ran the Leinenkugel Brewing Company for many years and whose sons continue to run the brewery, passed away today after a long battle with cancer. He was 87 years old. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

The Leader-Telegram has a pretty good article about Bill Leinenkugel, the former president of Leinenkugel’s brewery who’s now 86 years-old. Sadly he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor after already surviving lung and prostrate cancer; however, Leinenkugel says he’s lived a full life and he’s preserving his story on video for future generations.

Random goodness from the Interwebs: Seattle weekly paper The Stranger has a recent restaurant review that contains the best line I’ve read describing one of my all-time favorite beers. Chris McCann writes, “My friend downed a traditional Wisconsin brew, Leinenkugel’s ($4), which had a rusty sweetness to it that recalled crisp, clear, football-studded October evenings.”
