Koy Detmer: Wierdo » Brats & Beer

I know very little about quarterback Koy Detmer, who was signed this week by the Vikings to back up Brooks Bollinger. I know he has a brother Ty. I know he played for the Eagles and I think I remember he didn’t look horrible in a couple starts when McNabb was hurt (or was that Ty? See, I get them confused) but you would not want him as your franchise QB. I know his name rhymes with “toy.” That’s about it.

But now I can add to that list this little item: Koy Detmer is also a nutcase. Apparently throughout his career KD has made it a habit to bring just one set of clothes and a toothbrush with him on road games. That’s it; the clothes on his back and a toothbrush. And it isn’t just any set of clothes, but a special outfit he buys at the start of the season that he wears every time.

That might be a mistake this week when the Purple People Pleaters come to Lambeau Field. If Childress decides to put KD out on the field in front of the Aaron Kampman Sacking Machine, well poor Koy just might poop his pants. And then what will he do on the way home?

Better bring an extra set of undies, KD. You’ll need it.
