Klemm Still In The Game (Sort Of) » Brats & Beer

Like we needed to be reminded, the new Madden NFL 2007 is being released next month, but for anyone out of the loop Electronic Arts has put up a promotional Web site chock full of videos and screenshots to whet your appetite. Anyway, I’m checking out a video highlighting the game’s new Run to Daylight feature that allows you to control a lead blocker and there’s a sequence that features the Packers. In the scene, the virtual Favre tosses the ball to the virtual Ahman Green, and then a virtual Adrian Klemm clears the way to virtual daylight.
Nice, except we’ll never actually see that play for real since Klemm blew out his Achilles tendon during practice and is out for the season. (I guess too that the game designers were unaware that Klemm was the top backup to Clifton and probably wouldn’t have been on the field for that play, unless maybe the virtual Clifton had been blindsided by the virtual Sapp and broken his virtual pelvis the previous week.) For the real Packers, this means Will Whitticker becomes the top backup at tackle, so everybody grab your rosary or drop to a knee and start praying that Clifton gets healthy and that both he and Mark Tauscher stay injury free.
