Okay, maybe it’s too early for this sort of cynicism, we are only one game into the season after all, but isn’t Ted Thompson dancing around awfully fast for our amusement instead of trying to fix the leak in our little boat? One minute he’s signing Slushy McBoozer and the next he’s trading away our little Samkon Gado, healer of bodies and souls. How are these moves making the team any better? Bringing in K-Rob is questionable at best and a monumental blunder at worst, and exchanging Samwise for backup running back Vernand Morency is like replacing a Miller Lite with a Bud Lite: You’re still drinking a watered down beer. (And isn’t it terribly cruel to banish poor Samkon to the wasteland that is Houston?)
I realize we’re only just getting into the second year of the Thompson administration, but I’m just not sold on the soft spoken Texan. All these superfluous moves make me think he’s just trying to look busy so no one will notice he’s run out of ideas. Maybe if he turned over a rock and discovered the next Tarik Glenn or Steve Hutchinson to anchor the offensive line (or just ponies up the money to get a guy like that) then I’d start to believe. Until then I guess I’ll just sit back and enjoy the music as the band plays on.
