New UW football coach Bret Bielema is starting to assemble his first staff, hiring Dave Doeren from the University of Kansas to be co-defensive coordinator. Along with Bill Young, Doeren coached a Jayhawks defense that was ranked third in the country against the rush (83.3 yards per game) and 11th in the nation overall (303.3 yards per game). The Jayhawks also defeated Houston 42-13 in this year’s Fort Worth Bowl. Wisconsin has also retained offensive coordinator Paul Chryst and wide receivers coach Henry Mason from Barry Alvarez’s previous staff.
