It’s Sweet To Be Sixteen Again » Brats & Beer

Actually it would not be sweet at all to have to be sixteen and go through high school all over again. If my teenage years played out like John Hughes’ Sixteen Candles, I can’t say that I would have been the nerdy Bryce played by John Cusack or even his buddy Cliff. I would have just been one of the nameless extras standing in the bathroom to see Anthony Michael Hall with Molly Ringwald’s underpants.
But it is sweet to see the UW Badgers advancing to the field of sixteen in the NCAA tournament for the fourth time this decade. They played an excellent game yesterday against the K-State Wildcats, manhandling Michael Beasley and his crew for a 72-55 victory. Trevon Hughes and Michael Flowers combined for 40 points including seven of UW’s nine three-point shots. Most importantly, they played solid defense and shut down Beasley in the second half.
This is really looking like a Badger team that can go very deep in the tournament. We’ll see today who they draw for the next round, either Davidson or Georgetown, and then it’s on to face the Big 12 champion Kansas Jayhawks.
Looking forward to next weekend’s games from Detroit.
