It’ll Be A Favretastic Celebration » Brats & Beer

If I would have waited a few hours to publish my last post, I could have saved myself the trouble of speculating on which game the Packers would choose to retire Brett Favre’s jersey number. The team announced yesterday it plans to enshrine #4 on the facade of Lambeau Field during the season opener on Monday Night Football. I hope all the Vikings fans who get tickets to the game will enjoy the halftime extravaganza.

I’m sure this the news is not sitting well with all the Favre haters out there in football-land. That whole first weekend of NFL action will become one long tribute to the three-time MVP with every network running their own highlights and retrospective reels. And with ESPN covering the game itself, there’ll be no holding back the Worldwide Leader for over-the-top hyperbole and sensationalism. The good news for those folks: they won’t have to hear anything more about Brett Favre after that. Probably.
