All these work days between football weekends are really starting to get me down. Can’t we do something to speed up the week or just get rid of all these non-essential days? I think there ought to be a law, and I’m not talking about a stupid Man Law.
Anyway, Saturday is fast approaching and the Fighting Illini are coming to Camp Randall this weekend. UW is looking to extend its winning streak to five and hold on to the third spot in the Big 10, but can they do it? All indications say “yes” but there’s never a sure thing in college football.
Badger Tracker at Badger Sports does a pretty good job of breaking down the problems of Illinois: They can’t pass well, their defense gives up too many points, they got shut out by Rutgers, and they couldn’t hold a lead against Penn State. Let’s also remember that this team is coached by Ron Zook; yeah, it doesn’t look good for Chief Illiniwuss.
All the same, Wisconsin isn’t good enough yet to overlook Illinois; there are still too many holes in the team to say they are a lock to win any given weekend. Penalties, turnovers and other mental errors continue to plague the team and could cost them a game one of these days. And Zack Hampton on punt return still gives me nightmares.
I am confident the Badgers can play a solid game on both side of the ball, and if they do that there’s no doubt UW will win this Saturday. It would be great, though, if they put in a flawless game to set up next week’s contest against Penn State.
Go Badgers!
