Four former Badgers football players made their way onto NFL teams through this weekend’s draft, led by corner Jack Ikegwuonu who went in the fourth round to the Eagles. Given Ike’s blown out knee and, um, methods of procuring a video game, I was a little surprised he went that high in the draft. Some of the media reaction seems similarly mixed with some liking it and some hating it. If he puts his mind to it and keeps his nose clean, though, I think Ikegwuonu could be a fearsome player in the league.

The other three Badgers went in the sixth round. Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff went to New Orleans with the 178th pick, DL Nick Hayden was selected by the Panthers with the 181st pick, and the Browns reunited receiver Paul Hubbard with Joe Thomas with the 191st overall pick. Dave Heller at the JS Badgers Blog has a good roundup of reactions from around the Interwebs on these picks.
