Hating The ‘Boys Even More » Brats & Beer

How ’bout that pizza?
I didn’t think it was possible, but Tony Kornheiser last night managed to make me dislike the Dallas Cowboys even more than I already did with his incessant braying about Jerry Jones — his boy — and how he (Jones) will do anything and everything to promote his football franchise. Tony praised the team’s ambitious new $1.1 billion stadium to be completed for next season, so by extension it must also be praise-worthy for Jones and the city of Arlington to steal land away from people to get the project completed. For sure this is (ahem) America’s Team.
I suppose that’s why Tony dislikes the Packers so much. Brett Favre is gone and it’s too early to kiss the feet of Aaron Rodgers, but more importantly there’s no rich and powerful owner like Jones or Bob Kraft to suck up to. There’s only Ted Thompson and Tony could never understand a general manager who builds his team through the draft instead of through headline-grabbing free agent contracts.
And speaking of TT, there were some confounding statements about Ted during the post-game radio show Sunday. An early caller to the show chided all the Thompson haters in the wake of the Packers second victory, which led to more than a few calls from self-esoused anti-Thompsonites. When asked by Bill Michaels why she no longer supported the Green & Gold, one caller said it was because TT isn’t “a people person.” Ridiculous. And why were these people listening to the post-game show anyway if they are no longer Packer fans? It must have been a Vikings fan still trying to stir up dissent.
