I’m not sure how funny I find this picture, as I don’t really want to think that Corey Williams swings that way, but on the other hand is a pretty hilarious pose for Sexy Rex Grossman. (Picture spotted on and stolen from the mighty excellent Big Lead.)
So the big NFL divisional playoff games are coming up this weekend, which means it’ll be our first chance to see the Chicago Bears in action since their 26-7 smackdown from the Packers on New Year’s Eve. Can Lovie Smith get his bear cubs in shape to dispatch the Seahawks, or will it be a quick trip to the bar for Mr. Grossman? I had a good conversation at work on this subject yesterday, and the consensus was that the Bears are very capable of loosing this game, the question is are the Seahawks up to the challenge of winning it.
I really think that making a quick escape from Detroit and then getting beaten badly at home in the season finale is going to play havoc with those over-sized weasels. Seattle is no where near being the NFC Champions they were last season, but at the same time I really don’t think that Grossman is up to the task of guiding his team to the championship game. And that defense can bail him out only so many times. My prediction is for an ugly game but a close Bears loss.
In the rest of the tournament, I really am a little afraid that the Eagles have some evil, bad, bad ju-ju going on. Jeff Garcia should not be playing this well and this team should have fallen apart after McNabb went down. Andy Reid, I think, might have some more powerful voodoo in his back pocket than the Saints have down in the Big Easy.
As for the AFC, I would stay far away from betting on that Pats-Bolts game. All mortal reason and tea leaves point to a San Diego victory, but New England has shown they really can pull out these wins when they need to. If there was a team to follow the Steelers and win on the road all the way to the Super Bowl, it would be the Patriots. For Indy, though, I’m pretty sure the ride ends in Baltimore. They were lucky the Chiefs turned in the worst playoff performance in history last week; I don’t think the Ravens wil be as accomodating.
