Golden Eagles Make A Big Splash In The Big East » Brats & Beer

Marquette opened their first Big East season with a bang Tuesday night, surprising the #2 UConn Huskies 94-79. Steve Novak scored a career-high 41 points, setting a new record for most points in a Big East debut. He also had 16 boards. It was a six-point game at halftime, but the Golden Eagles went on a 7-0 run early in the second half and never looked back. Freshman Jerel McNeal scored 19 for Marquette in the win and Joe Chapman had 12. Riding a five-game winning streak, the 11-3 Golden Eagles host Cincinnati this weekend.
