Looks like the powers that be at ISU have decided to lift prohibition during Veishea. The annual Spring celebration has been a dry event since 1998 due to rioting and vandalism that has occasionally broken out and was cancelled this past year in response to a disturbance in 2004.
I know this might date me, but I was there are the first big Veishea riot in 1988. Oh, those were heady days when the people rose up and took to the streets in protest. Okay, maybe it was just a bunch of drunks that started a fire on Welch Ave., but it sure looked like something out of the history reels. What can I say, we Iowa Staters can’t help but set things on fire and bust out a few windows as soon as the weather turns nice.
