Frustrating Day for the Pack » Brats & Beer

The Packers put up a noble fight today showing flashes of what kind of team this could be, but in the end mistakes and missed opportunities thwarted their effort to upend the Pittsburgh Steelers. This game was sort of a microcosm of the season: at times it looked hopeful, but in the end there was only disappointment. I say the Packers put up a noble fight, and I do think they gave all they had. Antonio Chatman stepped up as a playmaker on several occasions, and rookie Samkon Gado made a huge impression with his performance. But the depleated offense was ultimately overmatched by Pittsburgh’s defense.

So, we’re 1-7 for the first time since the darkest years of the Forrest Gregg era, but we can’t give up just yet. A winning season is still a possibility. Hell, catching the Bears and winning the division is still just a few wins away. But the stupid penalties, the blown plays, the missed tackles have to end to make that a possibility. There’s still hope for the Green & Gold, but we all have to believe.
