Digg This: Kevin Rose Is A Packer Fan » Brats & Beer

Annual surveys of sports fans regularly show that Green Bay is one of the most popular teams in the NFL, with a fan base that stretches across the country. It’s also not uncommon to see celebrities attending games at Lambeau Field (though some need to keep their distance). But apparently we Packer fans have an Internet celebrity within our midst.
I was browsing through iTunes the other day looking for something interesting to watch or listen to and came across a Diggnation podcast called “Say it ain’t so, Favre.” For those of you unfamiliar, Diggnation is a web show featuring Digg founder Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht drinking beers and talking about that week’s top stories on Digg. I don’t watch every week but it can be amusing from time to time.
Anyway, in this particular episode, near the end of the show, they talk about Brett Favre announcing his retirement and how many Diggs it got on Digg, and it turns out that Kevin Rose is big Packers fan. Of course he’s despondent over the news, as we all were (still are?), but says he’s optimistic for this season. The funny thing is that even though Rose says he’s a big Green Bay fan, he admits he really doesn’t know much about Aaron Rodgers. I guess running an Internet business and hosting a popular podcast doesn’t leave much time for obsessing over football news.
I would suggest Rose should start reading this here blog a little more and checking out some of the other excellent Packers blogs listed in the sidebar. Maybe since he runs Digg he could get some of our posts promoted to the front page and boost our traffic a little. What do you say, Kevin?
