Cyclones Headed For Houston Bowl » Brats & Beer

The ISU Cyclones accepted a bid to play in the EV1.net Houston Bowl on New Years Eve. The name is pretty goofy, but I think it’s a lot better than the Independence Bowl down there in Shreveport where Iowa State has ended up twice before. They’ll be playing the fightin’ Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University, who topped the Mountain West Conference with a 10-1 overall record. Not familiar with TCU? It is a private school located in Fort Worth and affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a Protestant organization. Some notable TCU alumni include journalist Bob Schieffer, NFL running back LaDainian Tomlinson, the late Rod Roddy (announcer for The Price Is Right), and former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, American Idol semi-finalist, and host of G4’s Cheat! Kristin Holt. EV1.net, by the way, is an Internet company that has somehow not only managed to survive but has enough dough left over to sponsor a football game.
