Iowa State’s own Will Blalock was the final player to be picked in the NBA Draft last night, being selected by the Detroit Pistons. The Boston native becomes the 31st Cyclone basketball player to be drafted by a pro team and the first since Jackson Vroman in 2004. While Blalock’s talents will be missed at Hilton Coliseum, I’m sure all ISU fans congratulate him and wish him well in his NBA career.

And what a way to get your career off to a promising start. There’s probably not a better team to get drafted by (other than the Bucks, of course). Blalock will be playing alongside guys like Ben Wallace and Chauncey Billups who won a title just a couple years ago and know how to win. And he’ll be joining former Cyclone Kelvin Cato, who was traded to Detroit back in February. Need4Sheed has a post on Blalock with a scouting report and a video highlight.
