Could We Trade Beads For Branch? » Brats & Beer

Unable to come to terms with their star wide receiver, the New England Patriots have given Deion Branch a week to negotiate a trade to another team. I can think of a team that might have some use for a Super Bowl MVP wideout, but getting him away from the bony clutches of Robert Kraft might be tough. How many third stringers and/or cash do you think the Packers would need to stuff into a deal involving Robert Ferguson? My guess is the Pats are looking to get a first round draft pick or someone of equal talent, which clearly Fergie is not even close to being. It might be a tough sell, but I really hope Ted Thompson at least tries to make a deal here. Imagine Branch lined up with Driver with Jennings in the slot; I bet Favre’s salivating just thinking about it.

Of course Branch isn’t the only ex-Pat out on the free market now. New England released Martin Gramatica earlier this week, and I would not be surprised one bit to see the Packers invite Boogie Nights up to Green Bay for a tryout. Not that he would make the team (please dear God don’t let him make the team), but at least then Thompson could say he tried to sign a veteran kicker after Rayner shanks one wide left and costs Green Bay a victory.
