Two in a row. Say it with me, two in a row.

Green Bay defeated the Arizona Cardinals today 31-14, giving the Packers back to back wins for the first time since the end of the 2004 season. Not to mention the fact that the Green & Gold is now 3-4 on the season and just a game away from matching (and then exceeding) last year’s win total.

It was probably the best performance of the year for the Packers, with Brett Favre throwing for 180 yards and a touchdown with no picks and running for another score, while the ground game ran over the Cards to the tune of 203 yards. On the other side of the ball, the beleaguered defense held Arizona to 218 total yards and recorded four sacks on Brynn Cameron’s baby’s daddy. Aside from the 10 penalties, it was a nearly flawless game.

Nearly, but far from flawless. The defense probably played better today than most of the season, but there’s still some miscommunication going on in the secondary leading to blown coverages. At least they didn’t get called for too many men on the field anyway.

The offense seems to be gaining confidence and coming together, so if the defense can get its act together this season could be salvageable. There are still a few games the Packers should win and they might even surprise a couple teams. I think this season just got a lot more interesting.
