Horrible. Despicable. Just down right effed up. I can hear Press-Gazette columnist Mike Vandermause in my head saying we just need to give this team time, I can hear my friends and family telling me it was a longshot that the Packers might possibly win this game, but there’s still a lot of disappointment here. And maybe some rage, too.

It just seems to me that Green Bay is paying too many people too much money to suck this badly, especially Charles Woodson and Al Harris. Of course, Ahmad Carroll got burned a few times and drew an interference call that led to a 30-yard touchdown pass, but Harris got flagged for a Carroll-like face mask call and got burned by Dante Stallworth early in the game. Heads need to roll — players or coaches.

But what really killed it for me, though, was the $100 million man, The Warrior, Brett Favre, trying to go downfield to David Martin in the third quarter when he had a receiver (Morencey, I think) wide open in the flat. The result: An interception. Why? They had a drive going, they were moving the chains, and then the deep pass and interception just ended it all. I think he was making decent decisions and good throws in the first half, but then that third quarter came along and the wheels just really came off the wagon.

Mike McCarthy is also starting to confuse me. The running game was starting to gain some traction there in the first half, then in the third quarter they just seemed to give up on the ground game altogether. Yes, they fell behind quickly on the field goal and the Greg Lewis touchdown, but there was still plenty of time left. The Packers, though, went exclusively to the pass and handed the Eagles and Jimbo Johnson a free pass to tee-off on the blitz. And what happened to the short passing, West Coast gameplan that was working so well last week? I just don’t know.

There were some good things that happened, some signs of improvement in certain areas, and I’ll really try to get to those some time, but for now there’s just burning disappointment and resentment and dejection.

Yeah, I just don’t know.
