Brats & Beer Keys To The Game: Bengals At Packers » Brats & Beer

1. Pre-game warm up. This pre-season game will be our first chance to see how Aaron Rodgers responds as a starter in the NFL, so be sure to get a good base with a proper lunch for all the drinking tonight. You might also want to have some pre-game snacks (summer sausage, cheese and crackers, etc.) while listening to the pre-game show on WTMJ.
2. Proper mindset. No one knows for sure how this new offense is going to look in its first live-game test; Rodgers might fall flat on his face or he could lead some impressive touchdown drives. Either way you want to be prepared mentally. I recommend plenty of beer.
3. Sideline calls. Pre-season isn’t just for the players, this is the time for you to work on your personal heckling calls for the season. Yelling “Fire Ted Thompson” is way too obvious, how about something like “Put your dress shoes back on, Mr. Rodgers” or “There goes the neighborhood!” (If he does well, though, will “Speedy Delivery” be the chant from the crowd?)
4. Pacing. It has been seven months since the last Packers game, so be sure to remember to pace yourself and use your reserves intelligently. Start with your primary beers, rotate in some snacks or maybe a bratwurst or two. Activate the hard liquor only case of dire emergencies.
5. Proper game calls. If you are interested in hearing about the game and the breakdown of how the Packers are looking, it goes without saying that you have to listen to Wayne and Larry call the game on the radio. (If you’re outside the listening area, check out NFL Field Pass.) On the other hand, for anyone wanting to hear about Brett Favre and endless rehashing of the past few weeks, by all means listen to ESPN’s triple threat of doom.
