Big Plans At ISU » Brats & Beer

Looks like my Cyclones are dreaming big these days. The athletic department unveiled long-range plans the other day for expansion work at both Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum. For Jack Trice, they want to add new suites and club seats and to eventually enclose the south end of the field with additional seating. (How cool is that? Hopefully those extra seats will all go to students.) Up at Hilton, the plans call for a remodeling of the arena, the addition of a practice facility, and a Hall of Fame. (That’s where they’ll keep Marcus Fizer’s jersey.) You can see more pics at the ISU athletics site.

Okay, I hear you snickering and that’s fine. I realize ISU’s program isn’t as big and prestigious as the Football Factories out there, but I have to applaud our little Ag-Engineering school for thinking big. And it’s not just the administration that’s being bullish on ISU athletics: The school has sold almost 30,000 season tickets for football, and I don’t know how long its been (if ever) that they’ve been able to do that. Sure, 30K might not sound like a lot to you Schmuckeye fans, but I think Peterclone over at Cyclone Sports Journal makes a good point that with the smaller campus and fan base, it is quite an accomplishment. Huzzah, ‘Clones!
