Badgers Title Bid Falls Short » Brats & Beer

That was a damn depressing way for the Big 10 tournament to end, wasn’t it? The Wisconsin Badgers went cold for most of the afternoon and fell again to the Ohio State Buckeyes 66-49 in the final game.

It was not the way Wisconsin should have ended its run at the Big 10 championship, but Alando Tucker scored just 10 points, while Kam Taylor had only 15. That is not a recipe for success, especially with Brian Butch sitting on the bench. The Badgers were 4-23 shooting from three-point range and turned the ball over 17 times.

It really looked like they were just a little too skittish out there today, unable to really commit to shooting the ball or attacking the basket. And when they did, it seemed like more often than not someone would lose the handle on the ball and O-State would come away with a turnover.

Ohio State played a good game, don’t get me wrong. Mike Conley and Ron Lewis were pretty unstoppable most of the game, and even Greg Oden ended up having a decent game in the second half. But the Badgers could have, should have, played a lot better than they did today.

At least their season was good enough for a #2 seed in the East Regionals of the NCAA tournament, the best the Badgers have ever placed in the big tourney. I sure hope they come out ready to play and put on a better exhibition than they did today. I know they are capable of it. Wisconsin will play Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the first round.
