Badgers Advance Towards Sweet Sixteen » Brats & Beer

A nice solid game last night by the UW men’s basketball team in their opening game of the NCAA tournament. They were a little sloppy with 17 turnovers, but overall I thought the Badgers dealt with Cal Fullerton’s speed pretty well.

One thing I couldn’t stand, though, were the announcers Kevin Harlan and Dan Bonner. Do they not scout these teams before taking to the air? I realize they have to call a bunch of games, but a little bit of knowledge can go a long way. At one point one of them said how impressed he was that Wisconsin didn’t “panic” during a run by the Titans. Panic? The Badgers were Big Ten regular season and tournament champs, why in the world would they panic during a game in which they were never down by more than six points?

Anyway, I would be a little bit panicky today knowing that I was going to face K-State on Saturday, but then this is just one of many reasons Bo Ryan wouldn’t have me on his team. The Wildcats bring both speed and size to the court so this should be a real test for the Badgers. If UW can shut down top player Michael Beasley, they can make it along day for KSU and grind out another win to get out of the first weekend.

Go Bucky!
