So my attempts at prognostication were right on the nose: Bears and Colts in the Super Bowl. Ah, I suck at picking games.
I was very surprised, to say the least, at how badly the Saints looked today. Was it the cold? All week everyone in the sports entertainment media complex kept repeating how Drew Brees played at Purdue and cold weather wouldn’t affect him, but man did he look out of sorts in that game. And hardly any attempts at running the ball? I know, I’m not giving the Chicago defense its due, and I’m not gonna, but they did finally play a pretty good game.
Nice game plan there by Lovie Smith: Just run the ball till Cedric Benson and Thomas Jones drop dead. Let’s not hear any stories in the run up to the Super Bowl about how awesome Rex Grossman is. It’s going to be more of the same down in Miami, unless the Bears fall behind by a couple touchdowns, then they’re screwed. And even though I know this is a futile request, can we also keep the ‘85 Bears far from the discussion? (I didn’t think so.)
The worst of it is, the Colts won so now I pretty much have to root for the Bears in the Super Bowl. Damn! Come on New England, what happened out there? You just totally let that huge lead slip away. The defense was playing great in the first half, then suddenly there was no stopping Manning in the final thirty minutes. Patriots, consider yourselves on notice:

Well, we’ll be having a kick ass Super Bowl party regardless. Uh, go Bears? (Ooh, I feel dirty saying that.)
