A Rose Bowl By Whatever Name Is Finally Over » Brats & Beer

Well, another college season is done now that the Rose Bowl is over. Or I should say, The Rose Bowl Game Presented By Citi, as they kept reminding us. God, I hate the BCS. Anyway, congrats to the Longhorns for their big win over USC, who I guess ESPN will have to refer to now as the Not-Quite-The-Best Best Team Ever In The History Of College Football. All those UT fans out there might want to take a minute, though, and thank that Big 10 officiating crew for their non-call and non-review when Vince Young lateraled from a one-knee stance for their first touchdown. That was a bit embarrassing, but it’ll give everyone something to argue about all summer.
A tip of the hat also to JoePa and his Nittany Lions for their triple overtime victory in the Orange Bowl the other night. I really thought it was over for Penn State when Robinson fumbled the snap and gave FSU the ball with better than eight minutes to play. Luckily, Bobby Bowden still hasn’t figured out how to recruit or coach a kicker.
Hopefully, Wisconsin can build on this year’s success next season under Bret Bielema and we’ll see the Badgers back in the Rose Bowl (or whatever it’ll be called a year from now).
