March 5, 2008

How about we start today off with some good news, eh? And this picture of Buckingham Badger always makes me feel a little bit better about everything.
Last night while most of us were still trying to come to terms with Brett Favre retiring, Ohio State defeated Purdue 80-77 in overtime, leaving the Wisconsin men’s basketball […]

What a day. I spent a vast majority of it reading stories and blog posts, watching ESPN and press conferences, and listening to WTMJ online. (Oh, the day job will not be pleased with my productivity.) But even after all of that, I still can’t quite get my head around the idea that Brett Favre […]

Favrepocalypse
Big thanks to Jib at The Wisconsin Sports Bar for summing up this astonishing and historic day with one beautiful and succinct word.

Some early reaction to Brett Favre’s retirement announcement from around the Packer blogosphere: Cheesehead TV simply congratulates Favre on an amazing career. My Official Green Bay Packers Blog feels like crap. Railbird Central has posted a blank image symbolic of the void Brett Favre has left.

DrBear at Packerama says to Packer fans, “welcome to the rest of your […]

Pardon my French, but the first wave of angry outburst is already happening.
Tom Silverstein has posted on the JS Packers Blog some quotes from Brett Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, who says he thinks Favre wanted to play one more season but got the idea that the Packers — Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy — didn’t […]

No, it doesn’t look like it’s a Web site snafu this time. Brett Favre has made his decision to retire from football, the Biloxi Sun Herald is reporting.
Wow, I’m pretty much speechless here. Except to say thanks to Brett for 16 wonderful years and a great last season. Good luck to him in whatever he […]

The Journal Sentinel is reporting today that Green Bay has some interest in tight end Kris Wilson, most recently with the Kansas City Chiefs.
What’s interesting […]

The Randy Moss hysteria barely had time to get up a good head of steam before coming to an end today. The Patriots finally came through with a three-year, $27 million deal today after his brief and relatively quite testing of the waters.
The Boston Herald (by way of CSTB) had an interesting take today on […]

The rumor mill grinds on.
Andy at packergeeks makes an intriguing proposal that Ted Thompson should make a play for running back Warrick Dunn, who was released today from the Falcons. Dunn would be starting his 12th NFL season, which might not sound too enticing to TT, but for the right price it could be a […]

There’s been some discussion out there about Green Bay’s free agency plans with respect to the gaping hole at tight end. A few of those discussions have revolved around former Falcons TE Alge Crumpler. Those discussions can now turn to other prospects because Crumpler has agreed to a deal with the Tennessee Titans.
Meanwhile, it sounds […]
