In the Iditarod Trail Dog Sled Race, now nearing a week since the official start, Zoya DeNure is listed in 55th place this morning. She left the checkpoint at Ruby this morning at five o’clock, though it looks like two of her dogs had to stay behind, so now she’s down to a team of […]

Now it’s for real.
Congratulations to the UW Badgers for winning the Big Ten regular season title outright with a 65-52 victory yesterday at Northwestern. Badgercentric has a great recap of the season and where the Badgers stand heading into the Big Ten tournament this coming weekend.

Brett Favre blessed the hallowed ground at Lambeau Field for 16 seasons, and in the process he became a living legend and hero for Packer fans everywhere. In his press conference Favre said he hoped he’d be remembered for more than the records and statistics, but he need not worry. Number Four meant more to […]

Former fashion model turned dog sled musher Zoya DeNure was featured in the Anchorage Daily News today. It focuses mostly on her attempts repair her broken sled, a task made all the more difficult because the Alaskan transplant from Madison is new to the sport of dog sledding. Best line:
When DeNure first arrived in Alaska […]

Trapped in my cubicle under a pile of TPS reports, I didn’t have a chance to watch Brett Favre’s press conference live. It’s probably for the best because I seriously would have been balling my eyes out right there at work.

Just to update you on the fortunes of two former Badger Staters taking part in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race:
Zoya DeNure, the former fashion model from Madison, is currently listed in 49th place having left the checkpoint at McGrath shortly after midnight. That means she and her team have covered more than 400 miles […]

Congratulations to the Wisconsin men’s basketball team for clinching a share at least of the Big Ten regular season championship. The Badgers rolled through Penn State last night 77-41 for their 15th conference victory and the third title of Bo Ryan’s tenure.
But who wants to share? Bucky can win the conference outright with a win […]

Unless he has a big change of heart before 11 o’clock today, Brett Favre will make his retirement officially official at a press conference at Lambeau Field. He and Deanna will be in Green Bay to address the media and the fans, answer a few questions, and then I presume they’ll return to Mississippi for […]

Joey Harrington?
At 29 and with some nice tools, Harrington seems to be a better option than some of the retreads out there. He started 10 games for the Falcons last year in the wake of the Michael Vick debacle and completed 61.8% of his passes for 2,215 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. For his […]

Anyone expecting a lengthy tribute to Brett Favre here will have to wait a little bit longer. That post is still a work in progress, plus he hasn’t actually filed the retirement papers yet. (Yes, I’m still in denial.)
In response to turmoil I usually seek refuge in pragmatism, and one thought that struck me in […]
