Peter King is fulfilling his destiny at last. After years of fawning over Brett Favre and cultivating his close relationship with the future Hall of Fame quarterback, King is right where he should be reporting from inside the Favre compound during the (hopefully) final few days of this sports soap opera. His dispatch today from […]

Kudos to Mike McCarthy for surviving his first press conference of the new season. The first 10 or 15 minutes were nothing but questions about Brett Favre, each of which he answered the same way: Aaron Rodgers is our starting quarterback, Brett Favre is retired. Seriously, I would have lost my cool after five minutes […]

ESPN is reporting that the Green Bay Packers have given the New York Jets permission to talk to Brett Favre about a possible trade deal and that Tampa is also in the running. I’m guessing that there was some narrowing of the list this week and, as Aaron at Cheesehead TV points out, the Jets […]

The shareholders of the Green Bay Packers came together yesterday at Lambeau Field and let their voices be heard, and from most accounts a majority of those in attendance expressed their approval of Brady Poppinga’s new contract extention. There were a few hecklers and some booing, but overall the crowd of 9,300 supported general manager […]

Not only does the new minor league hockey team in Des Moines have a stupid name (Iowa Chops? Really?), but now they’re compounding that error by offering Brett Favre a contract.
Speaking as a native Iowan, born and raised, I’m officially embarrassed for my home state.

There’s been a good amount of discussion out there in the electronic ether about the wisdom and motivation behind NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s meddling in the personnel department at 1265 Lombardi Avenue, so I thought it might be instructive to, as they say, walk a mile in his shoes. Put yourself in his position. Role […]

Today the Green Bay Packers will be holding its annual shareholders meeting at Lambeau Field, an event that serves as a reminder of the team’s unique status as a community-owned sports franchise. Given all the brouhaha over Brett Favre’s potential return from retirement, I sure hope stadium security is prepared to fortify the gates against […]

A publisher in Minneapolis, who is also a Green Bay Packers shareholder, is offering Brett Favre a six-figure advance for a tell-all book about the quarterback’s falling out with the team.
I guess it is true that blood does attract the sharks.

An open reply to Emily, an intern (I’m guessing) at the Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau, who sent in a note about ESPN’s “contest” to find the “real Titletown USA.” Emily,

Thank you very much for your e-mail alerting me to ESPN’s search for “the real Titletown USA” and the online voting taking place. […]

I can’t believe how seriously f’ed up the University of Iowa is. A female student athlete got assaulted last year and from the sounds of it the athletic department did all it could to cover the whole thing up, including withholding letters written by the girl’s mother about the school’s handling of the case when […]
