Will this change your mind?

“Maybe he’s headed down there with a list of potential trading partners or just a briefcase full of money.”

It turns out Mark Murphy did take a big briefcase full of money on his trip to Hattiesburg, at least if WTMJ has its facts straight. The TV station is reporting tonight, according to two sources, that the Packers president and CEO offered Brett Favre $20 million over 10 years to stay retired.

My friends, if you were waiting for the bottom to fall out on this thing, it has officially fallen.

I’m not sure who came up with this idea or what planet they live on, but this is not going to play out well for the team in the court of public opinion. Even if Favre accepts the offer, which isn’t clear at this time (although his agent Bus Cook did tell reporters “right now, it looks like he’ll be the quarterback at Oak Grove High School”) it doesn’t look good to have the Packers paying off a player because they can’t trade him and they don’t want to deal with him being in camp.

A real shit storm is coming in the morning; better remember your umbrella.
